CommentsBeen to this page before but find it better every time I come back. Wish I knew how to do some of the things on the computer that you do but I'm still a dummy. Keep up the good work.
CommentsThis is a great site. My brother-in-law, Noel Shipp, killed in action 31 May 1969, a great friend. I am particularly thinking of Noel at this time due to my husband's untimely death on 14 December 2001. Noel and Bob were great mates and I hope they have now been reunited. Friendships are so important so keep up the good work. Margaret

CommentsHi, I'm not a real EMU, But once, for a very short period of time I got chance to fly with EMU out of Di-An/Phu-Loi; Can not remember any of EMU but for sure I did have good time, Still is one of My best memories. I wish to say Hello again to a CW3 (or CW4) that let me on control of a "OH-58" from Di-An to Phu-Loi on a rainy day (I Never been inside this bird before that moment...) EMU, Let me wish you all the best that life can offer to you. I do not have [at] address, Just a c/o, for Capt. Dan. Don't think will see again any of EMU station in Di-An back to 1971 but if we do, Let me buy you a couple of cold one.
CommentsDad was with you guys 1968/69? He is in the photo on the scrap book page - Dedication in Australia front row, second from the right - Good ol 'happy hawkins'. Can't get him to use the Internet just yet, but he asked me to check out the site, I learnt a lot and it was great to see some of the images and the people associated with my dad's history. I work as a strategic IT director for a rich media company in Brisbane Aust, so I will try and get some of my Dads old photos and upload them to you, if I can get some video images I will send you encoded launch codes. Great to see your site and I will tell my dad about it, who knows maybe a catalyst for him to log on himself. Cheers Ray Hawkins Jnr P.S. if anyone wants to make contact with my dad I will be happy to pass on any messages.
CommentsMy old friends, do you remember the Tet Offensive of 1968? I remember how on the fist day we we heading to Budop but had to land at Chu Chi because the VC were attacking Budop. A few days later we flew reinforcements into the devastated city of Ben Tre and flew out the 9th Infantry dead. Most of all I remember the action of Feb. 8th and the loss of Captain Fleer, WO1 Moore, Spec 4 Cavanaugh, and Pfc. Labuda. Hard to believe that happened 34 years ago!
CommentsFinding this web site was like a dream from the past. I had all but given up of ever finding any trail of my former unit. Resigned to remembering moments that I sometimes wondered if it were just figments of my imagination. Thank you for being here for me. I have nothing to offer. All photos, scarf, black beret, unit patch and crest long ago lost. I was a gunner, assigned to Taipan 19 and had a big yellow "Iron Butter Fly painted on the nose of our gloriously awkward bird. I was very young and have no remembrance of names dates or places only that they melted one into another. Thank you for giving me peace of mind, and a place I can come back to remember a long and almost forgotten time. Wish I had my scarf, patch, beret etc. back...
CommentsVisited John Gallagher and Bob Johnson (classmates) in '70...had a blast with the EMU's and Taipans over a long weekend
CommentsG'day, Enjoyed coming back to your site. It improves every time - well done. As EMU 46 I had an interesting 12 months with the team but would rather have made your acquaintance in a more comfortable location. Look forward to meeting with you at the April reunion.

Commentsjust found the site looking for some other stuff...it looks great. Please include me in the roster for 1st platoon, I was the crew chief for aircraft #298. When I left for the states, I had turned the aircraft over to my gunner Max Segovia (I might have the last name not quite right, please forgive.) Thanks for a great site

CommentsI am helping to organise the 2002 reunion. Things are getting hectic but we are on track. So far we have over 100 EMUs attending. The most popular event is the Emu Monument dedication and the EMU reunion dinner, both on Saturday, 27th April. The Monument is almost finished, the construction that is. We still have a few bills to pay, please feel free to contribute. Hope to see as many of you as possible, share a beer and a few memories. If any one intends coming and has not registered yet, PLEASE do so as soon as possible !!!! We need to know for logistical reasons.- Catering, busses, seating, printing, arrangements for wives/girlfriends, nominal lists, invitations, programes, etc etc. Contact me at my email address for further information, or if you can not make it to the reunion, or to send a message to the guys and have it pinned on our notice board. Regards, Frank.
CommentsJust a note to say hello. I saw a picture of Larry Byers on your website. I was Larry's door gunner until they transferred me to the 191 AHC Bounty Hunters ( http://www.191ahc.org/)in Nov 1967. Do you have a email for Larry Byers? August Kraemer
CommentsWelcome home to you all. I have met a few of you at the VHCMA reunions. I am very happy to see you there and hope some day I can make it to where you are. If you make it back this way look for the lady with the jacket with all the patches on it, that me. I would love for you to sign it for me. David, Michael Leary says hi. Also hello to Andy Curran. This web site is great!!!!
CommentsI ran across your page by accident. It is very nice and your presentation is great I only met a few people other than GI's in Nam. It is nice that you have the unit still in mind. There are many here in the US and quite active. I wish you all the best of luck, Jim
CommentsCapt. H. C. Durham, III--my father served three terms in Vietnam. He was a pilot and flew Huey's during each term. I was curious if someone would remember serving with him? I have most of the letters he wrote to my mother, friends, and family members. I am just now reading them and am interested in corresponding with someone about his presence in Vietnam. Feel free to email my account and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
CommentsWhen Dave Benge told me about this site I couldn't wait to try it. I have blown my budget and have had to upgrade to more user hours. Hi, Guys! I am alive and ...well? Separated and living in Bundaberg/Gin Gin area of QLD. I love this website! Did anybody else cry when they watched it for the first time? Or is it just another symptom?
CommentsFlew in the Delta when you guys were at Dong Tam. Early in '71, we had a RF going up around Chi Lang, I think, and there was a Special Forces KIA on the side of the mountain....VC had them from above and below, and I think one of your guys got duped into going in to retrieve the body, I believe with a cargo net weighted down with 55 gal barrels, and the VC shot up the cockpit while they were at a hover...don't know how many were lost, but heard one of the EMUs got a DSC Posthumous...any info?
CommentsYou can find a year by year history of the 135th AHC by going to www.dragineez.com/mhi The 10 page history of the 135th AHC for 1967 was prepared by Lt Anthony Casadio RAN who was killed in Action 8-21-68.
CommentsGreat job on this site. Sorry to miss Nowra 2002. Sure miss Aus and the Navy connections. Have a great reunion.
CommentsGood site
CommentsHi Bill.... I think the men of the 135th are very lucky to have talented and dedicated webmasters for our old outfit. You have done a terrific job and seeing it rekindles old passions about the men, our camaraderie, and our unit. You and Steve keep up the good work! I believe I can speak for more than myself when I say.... We appreciate your considerable time and effort, and at the same time, the world gets a good look at our history. Sincerely, Kelly
CommentsGentlemen, After 34 years through the information on this site, and the kindness of several of you who have shared your eye-witness accounts with me, I have finally learned what happened on 8 February 1968 when my husband was KIA. He is gone, but his memory lives on in those whose lives he touched, and those whose lives touched him. Thank all of you for your service in Vietnam with the 135th AHC. With high regard, Sue King (Moore)
CommentsI thoroughly enjoyed looking at all your sites on 135th AHC - Emus and other sites. It brought back memories - today is Anzac Day. I went in the Anzac Day March and renewed old times. Am attending the Reunion 2002 functions. Keep up the good work. Regards - Jim.
Commentsgreat site, just to say g'day and wish everyone well
CommentsAnybody know my old man back then? I would kind of like to hear all the crazy stories that he does not want to talk about. I am an aircraft mechanic(C-17) in the Air Force and, I have an enormous amount of respect for what you guys went through.
CommentsHad a wonderful time at the reunion Great to see every one again maybe we can do it again some time

It brought back some wonderful memories and most importantly it gave me a chance to meet up with many good friends I thought I would never see again. If any of you are ever in the South East Queensland area please give us a call. Regards until next time we meet.......Barry
CommentsThe reunion committee have asked me to report: Mission accomplished, Reunion completed, Air Medals presented. Monument constructed and dedicated, ( not a dry eye in the house) US Ambassador sends his regards, Chief of the Australian Defence Force sends his congratulations and best wishes to all concerned with the events. Veterans Affairs Minister Danna Vale MP sends her congratulations to all medal recipients, and her regards to all at the reunion. The Australian Navy guy are looking forward to retiring so they can "get together for reunions and have such a good time". On behalf of the organising committee, thanks to all for your support. Frank
CommentsI am looking for anyone who remembered my Father Floyd "Skip" Fink? He was from Arizona and was with the unit from 67-68. He survived the war but was killed February 18th, 2000 in the line of duty in Tempe, AZ when a drug impaired driver rear ended his patrol car! I could use any information from anyone who knew him! My e-mail address is mjfink[at]theriver.com! Thanks!
CommentsHi everyone who was at the 2002 reunion in Nowra. I'd like to thank everyone for showing me a wonderful time while I was there. I'd also like to express my appreciation to the committee for their wonderful job done with all the organising of events and for all their prayers for good weather. The good lord definitely heard you all. It was great to catch up with new and old friends who knew Noel while in Nam. I am hoping to catch up with some of you when I next visit Nowra. God with with you all.

My thanks go to you all too.
Commentswe were the 13 guys no one remembers
CommentsJust got back from the reunion in Australia. It was great. The monument dedicated to the 135th is quite a tribute to the EMU's and Taipans. The Australians went out of their way to show everyone a super time. Lots of old friends and many new ones. VB still tastes great. A fantastic time was had by all. My special thanks to the reunion committee for a job "Bloody Well Done".
CommentsAgain I have to say that reviewing this web site always brings back powerful memories. Don't know if you know that our CO Ltc Cory's son was killed on the MIA mission in Laos. Keep up the great work Emu 28
CommentsGREAT WEB SITE
CommentsThis is incredible. I am sorry I stopped participating in 1998 due to my busy schedule. Bill Hysmith is the man and I wish you would get in contact with me. Scott S. Mowery P.S. Do you still have the headache from the engine flush?
CommentsI was really surprised and pleased to find this web site. You guys have done a great job. Nice to see that some of my old comrades Steve Lawrence, Jim Brownridge, Reg Sampson, are still around. I especially enjoyed the action shot of me in the photo with Mike Peterson. I'll be sending some photos as soon as I crack the combo on my old foot locker. Keep up the good work

CommentsAn outstanding website dedicated to those who are the most deserving. Remarkable. Hats off to you guys.
CommentsNice sight you'll here more from me
CommentsThis web site is a dream from the past. I had all but given up of ever finding any trail of my former unit when Bill and I put this together. I had resigned to remembering moments that I sometimes wondered if it were just figments of my imagination. Thank you for being here for me. I was very young in this place (Viet Nam) I can come back to remember for a long and almost forgotten time. My hat off to the web master........
CommentsWould anyone knowing the phone number of "Sludge" SENDY, contact me, email or phone 02 48428095. The matter is urgent
CommentsGreat Site - Remember spending many a night enjoying the company (and beer) with the Emus, Taipans, and Cowboys.
CommentsSuper web site! Great information, and great tribute to our fallen comrades.
CommentsServed in Australian Navy (although not active service). Met Terry Brooks (RANHFV) whilst we were both in Northern Territory Police Force. We are both retired and he lives about 500 yards from my place. Terry introduced me to this website yesterday and I spent a couple of enjoyable hours last night checking it out. Congratulations to the webmaster(s) on a great job. Best wishes to all......Ross Walshe, Darwin NT 02/07/2002.
CommentsJust found it and looking forward to seeing some old memories. I will also send some for my other comrades.
CommentsMy R.A.N. Vietnam Flight commendation pin is on the way! Just want to take a moment to thank Andy Curran for commissioning the pin and the rest of the Aussies who supported his effort to commemorate our contributions in a troubled time. We were among the best of the AHCs, and in no small part, it is because of how well the Australians and Americans worked together. This pin will be a treasured memento of my past and will be among those things I will be passing on to my son. In doing so, it will help to preserve the memory of an important and noteworthy unit in the military history of both our countries. Thank you Andy and your fellow countrymen. Sincerely, Kelly Odell
CommentsI am the proud owner of Helicopter 66-16298 scheduled to make her first civilian flight 07-09-02. Looking to make contact with her proud crew. Great web site.
CommentsCame home in Sept 68. Does anyone have contact with Patrick J Snyder? Lost contact with him years ago. Would like to find him. Last known address was in Phoenix
CommentsI have not been on the site in a while and it looks wonderful. I will be going to Vietnam in march of 2003 with Sons and Daughters in touch, in honor of my dad. We will be taking trips to locations where our dads served. Any info anyone has to share would be appreciated.
CommentsAll I can say is that I got lost in this website. It was wonderfully put together and I commend all who made this possible. I as an educator appreciate "never forgetting our past" and what makes us what we are today. To all those who participated who are with us now and to those who gave their all... THANK YOU and GOD BLESS! Will definitely be coming back for any updates!
CommentsThe web site is looking great .I'm still looking for anyone that remembers my cousin Larry E. Steppee and any information about his time with the 135th. Keep up the good work and God Bless all who have served. Thank You All.
CommentsI am a high school friend of John Cheha. Well done! on the web site.
CommentsMy father, Lloyd Ankrum was part of the 135 AHC from 69/70. I love listening to his stories and hearing about his friends. To Dusty and John, you know who you are, I think he loves you guys more than he will ever admit. This is a great site and I will work on getting some photos for it. I work on The AH-64D apache Longbows, so I have the respect of the "gunships". Thanks to everyone, "Gone but not Forgotten". SSG Lloyd S. Ankrum
CommentsGreat web site. Missed seeing you guys in Phoenix but it was pretty close to your get together near Sydney. I need a current e-mail address for Andy Curran, the two that I have no longer work. Also if you've got one for Jim Shaw. Thanks Minuteman 2-6Bravo
CommentsI am looking for "ED", he was a patient of mine on med/surg ward in early 1968. He was still in WOC Helicopter pilot training in early '68. Last card from him was Easter 1969 from Viet Nam. I fear the worst but can not confirm. Unfortunately I cannot remember his last name. I have pictures and cards & facts only he can verify. ED, if you read this, pls e-mail me. You use to visit me in the parking lot at the WAC barracks. I'm from SC. I pray you made it home. e-mail kbuchana[at]bellsouth.net. Good bless all vets!!!!!!
CommentsHi fellow members . The museum of flight at Nowra is refurbishing the RAN Helo Flight / 135th memorial section in the museum. if any one has any good quality photographs, slides, negatives (colour) that can be copied into large wall backdrops for the display . They would prefer pics of aircraft, troop insertions or in general action shots needed ASAP contact the museum director Mark Clayton <mclayton[at]telpacific.com.au>
CommentsI would like to find Patrick Snyder. I would also like to hear from anyone that went over with me in October 1967 from Ft. Hood. I was only with the 135th in Nam for three weeks. I was transferred to the 191st. Bear Cat.
CommentsMy site was made to honor those who served our country, but in a much more trying time than I did. Thank you all for serving, you deserve any and ALL recognition you get. The 199 RAC was based out of Vinh Long, but flew from many Forward Air Fields, the site was inspired by a friend of mine who flew in the company, Dave Kling. I started by attempting to find those that he served with and then, the site was born. Thanks again for answering the call, and a belated "Welcome Home!"
CommentsHello my name is Danyell and well my grandpa was Donald Warren Cook...I don't know if any of you remember him or have pictures but if you could email me and tell me about him I would appreciate it cause obviously I didn't know him. And my mom and grandma don't like to talk about it. Even the slightest story would be appreciated.
Commentscheck out book XIN LOI VIET NAM on Amazon or B&N sites. Crew chief 68-72; slicks & guns; Delta to DMZ; Viet Nam, Cambodia, Laos
CommentsJust thought of something--you guys sure you were at Fort Hood? I don't recall you being there--recall you being at Robert Grey Army Airfield which we always considered to be a separate base.
CommentsI assumed command upon the units arrival in VN. Departed the command March 1968 to the 16th CBT AVN Group as the Deputy Commander and rotated to CONUS August 1968.
CommentsJust wanted to say how happy I am for the men who received there Air medal's at the reunion. That was a long time in coming. I'm happy for all of you. Also Bill and Steve the site looks great. John Piper.
CommentsThis is great. My great friend Wayne Terry was in this unit and sent me to the website. I was in the Marine Corps from 1969 to 1972 and was in the Camp Pendleton campaign, repairing radios.... Now, I'm in civil affairs and I'm a "human intelligence gatherer" what used to be called an interrogator ... intel. I have a passion for war history. My dad was a bombardier in WWII and Korea, Army Air Corps, then the Air Force and retired after 20 years and now lives peacefully in Houston. My brother was in Marine Recon in 1965 and landed ashore at Da Nang before it was a rear echelon base ... My uncle was in Korea with the Marines. So, this is very interesting. Keep up the good work !

CommentsGreat Site. Was privileged to meet some of your members at a Mini Reunion in Rockingham 2 Nov 02. TS Anzac Cadets performed their Guard and Band Display for your members. The Cadets were extremely honoured to receive an "EMU" stick pin. Thank you Danny
CommentsHi guys! Ordered a belt buckle from Andy Curran, fast service, top quality, better than I had hoped for!!! I recommend his war badge site to all!!! Check out his site and get something EMU for yourself or a mate. Hope all former members are healthy and happy!!!
CommentsWhat a great memorial! Lest we never Forget!
CommentsNice to see pictures from yesteryear. It seems like only yesterday that we were in Viet Nam. The two people that I remembered most were Bob Mounts and Mickey Gould. The picture of them together was great. I will always remember Mickey stealing the Sheriff's bible at the jail in Belton. He put it in his cowboy boot while he was waiting for us to come post his bail.
CommentsJust to wish everyone the best of holidays and keep up the great site. Brings back so many memories. From CW2 Darwin C. Mininger the original EMU 24.WIA on 18 April 1968.
CommentsI've seen some site on this topic before...but this is one of the best I've seen yet. Your images and pages are wonderful, and you've done a wonderful job of putting it all together. May the Great Spirit (God) be with you always.
CommentsHappy holidays to all! As we enter the holiday season with our loved ones and we give thanks for every day WE have had with them please take a moment to remember our brothers and sisters who GAVE ALL for us! Drop a note to active military personnel now stationed around the globe! It is easy to do, just contact a branch of the services and they can tell you how to send a note or postcard to an active service member or contact the USO they too can help you out. Always remember: "our brothers died so we might live, may WE be worthy of their sacrifice"!
CommentsThis is the best yet I've ever seen for all us vets around the world. Looks possible to locate those I've not talked to in over 32 yrs. I had some Australian friends in the 135th I respected them very much. Looking forward to hear from them. Are you out there some where Michael Aves? Does any one know?
CommentsYour site looks good at a first quick glance. I flew a lot of night missions in late 1971 in your area, with all-night standby at your place after the mission. What fond memories, trying to grab some shut-eye on top of a slick slathered down with insect repellent.
Comments
CommentsIt has been a long time since I really thought about those days. What great comrades I had during those times. My bro Jeff Carr and I reunited for the first since the war a couple of years ago. Great website
CommentsHow about Michael Aves, of the Royal Australian Navy? Also Barry Thatcher, who worked in the Engine shop next to me and Aves in the rotor shop? Or I would appreciate a hello from any one who served in this unit in the time frame. Thanks and GOD BLESS TO ALL WHO SERVED.
CommentsFrom the original EMU 24, the site is just great. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone . Can't help but get a little teary eyed this time of the year thinking of those days long ago and our friends that didn't make it home. Darwin C. Mininger
CommentsI AM HUNTING FOR MY BUDDY, JOHN DEWITT. IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFORMATION ON HIM PLEASE E-MAIL IT TO ME.
CommentsA Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the members of the 135th AHC and their families. Phil and Carol Stanley of Thornton Colorado
