The list server is for former members of the 135th Assault Helicopter Company serving in South Vietnam, their friends, and associates. The list is to provide a quick and easy way for former members and friends to stay in touch, share with each other family news, moves, reunions, retirements, deaths, opportunities, etc. with one common address list.

Tell others about the list! The faster and larger the list grows, the more functional the list becomes.

Email addressed tois automatically sent to ALL list members as if the email is directly from you. Replies to a message are sent automatically to all list members.

A place to start is to send an email toand announce that you have joined the list.  Remember - you must first join the list to be able to use the list.

To protect the privacy and security of the list members and the Host, your subscription to the list constitutes your agreement with the following:

1. Not to use or sell the list and/or addresses for financial gain.

2. Not to use the list for unlawful or unethical uses including email spam.

3. Not to send messages that are pornographic, or would be considered offensive by any reasonable person. Violators will be removed from the list and access to the list blocked.

4. To use an effective anti-virus program on your computer, updated with current virus signatures, to avoid spreading computer viruses to list members and to protect your system from receiving a virus via email.

5. Agree that the list host/operator is not responsible for computer viruses and any associated problems or damages from a virus in or attached to an email message sent via the list server.

Submission of an email to the list constitutes your agreement with the above.

Mark, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, was WO Mark Knuckles a member of the 135th from December 1968 to December 1969 at Bearcat. Mark flew slicks until June 1969, then moved to the maintenance section. He managed the night maintenance platoon for several months just before returning to the states.

Emu Email List Server Help and Function Commands

This mail server, MAISER, is capable of performing a number of automatic operations or list functions in response to message commands sent to it by email. Some functions may be restricted to moderators (managers) of the list.

To activate the mail server, send a message to the mail server (), with the subject of the message set to anything (the mail server will quote your subject line back to you in its reply). Enter the commands from the list below the mail server should perform listed one per line in the message body. The mail server stops parsing commands when it encounters the end of the message, or a blank line. If your mailer adds a signature to your messages, make sure you enter a blank line after the last command. Unrecognized commands are ignored and may or may not generate an error.

Please DO NOT SEND COMMENTS OR INCLUDE MESSAGES in email to Maiser since only the mail server, a "mailbot", sees the email. You need not include your proper name and other vital information in the email since the mail server, MAISER, only uses the "From" email address to identify you. If you have both work and home email addresses, you will need to join from each address to send and receive mail at both addresses. See the "NOMAIL" option below to allow you to send but not receive email at a second email address, i.e., work address. Since email to the mail server, MAISER, is machine read by the program, you must follow instructions exactly!

List Commands

The following commands (in the first line of the message BODY) emailed to are recognized by the mail server. 

Your <list-name> is "emu.email" (without the quotes). Carefully note the spaces and order in each command. The commands must be entered EXACTLY as shown, including spaces, on the first line of the message body, not the subject.

SET emu.email <option> (Without the < >)
- Sets the following mail options. (See examples following list.)

VACATION X - Turns off email for X number of days

DIGEST - Turns on digest mode - subscriber receives only one email per 24 hour period with the day's messages accumulated. 

NODIGEST - Turn digest mode off, subscriber receives mail as sent to the server.

NOREPRO - Stops sending a copy of email to the originator

REPRO - Copy of email is returned to the originator (Default status)

NODIGEST - Turn digest mode off, subscriber receives mail as sent to the server.

NOMAIL - Turns mail off temporarily, for example while subscriber is on vacation. 

MAIL - Turns mail back on after a NOMAIL command. 

Examples: 

If you are out of town, going on vacation, for example 7 days (you can use any number), send an email towith the following on the first line.

SET emu.email VACATION 7 

Other Examples:

SET emu.email NOMAIL 
- Would turn mail off, but remain a subscriber.

SET emu.email DIGEST 
- Would accumulate mail and deliver as one email every 24 hours.)

SET emu.email MAIL 
- Turns mail back on after a NOMAIL command or DIGEST command.

STATUS emu.email
-Indicates the status of the sender, Active (MAIL), Digest, etc. 

VERIFY <email@address>
- Determines whether a particular address is valid at this site.

LIST
- Shows all the mailing lists available at this site.

SUBSCRIBE emu.email Firstname Lastname (or) SUB emu.email Firstname Lastname 
- Asks Maiser to add you to the EMU mailing list with your real name.

UNSUBSCRIBE emu.email (or) UNSUB emu.email 
- Asks Maiser to remove your address from the mailing list.

REVIEW emu.email 
- Asks the Maiser to send you the current subscribers (their email address with their Firstname and Lastname) to the list.

EXIT
- Terminates mail server command processing for a message.
